Week_13

Hi there,

I would like to expose you to two nice tools!

The first one is a site full with different free tools that can be used on your lesson.

Here's the link:

My favorite one is the bingo board creator. In my lessons I already used crosswords and word search, but I've never used bingo before. I think it can be fun for the students and even for us :)

The second tool that I liked called Spelling Test.

Spelling test is a free app for Iphone.
Students who use this app can practice the new words they have learned, test themselves, and add more and more new words every time.
I think it's a great app because students can get board from learning new words very fast, and technology always make it more fun. And it's totally free!

I hope you'll use these tools,

L.L

Week 10

Hi again!

This week we were asked to try out some research tools that we weren't familiar with before.

The first tool called "Noodletools".
Noodletools is a platform for research and literacy. Using this tool allows students to look for researchers according to a specific topic, and find related topics with just one click.

The second tool called "Simple English Wikipedia".
I'm sure you are all familiar with Wikipedia, but sometimes as a teacher, although my students love using this tool, I preferred that they won't use it because the English level is not suitable for them. That's why I was so excited when I first heard about Simple English Wikipedia!

You should try these tools too :)

Thank you for reading,

L.L

Week 6

Hi everyone,

This week I would like to expose you to cool tools and sites that can help your students improve their speaking and writing.

1. Voice Thread - using this tool, your students will be able to share and discuss. The great thing is that they have five commenting options: microphone, webcam, text, phone, and audio-file upload. It's perfect for them to practice their English!

2. Graphic Organizers - This site contains many Graphic organizer worksheets that can help your students "organize their thoughts" before they start writing. They can find there the best Graphic organizer for them, according to what they want to write.

3. The spelling bee – This is the most useable site I found that deals with spelling. I love the fact that you can choose the right level for you (from first to twelves grade). The students can hear the words as many as they want to, and then spell the missing words. Try it now! J

4. Story jumper – This site gives teachers and students a fun set of intuitive tools for writing stories. It's good for students who want to write but don't know how or where to start.

5. Printing press – using this site, your students can write a newspaper, flyer, poster and etc. They can practice their writing and then share it via email, or even print it and present it to class.

Thanks for reading,
L.L

Week 4

Hi again,

This week I would like to tell you about some stuff I read in the blogs from week 2.

In the blog class tech tips, they talk about the benefits of reading on digital devices rather than reading from a book.
"When reading on digital devices, students have options to interact with text as they read. From tapping on the screen to learn definitions.. the reading experience on tablets can transform the way we traditionally think about reading text."
I think that books belong to the past, and we definitely need to use technology as much as possible!

In the blog Educational Technology and Mobile Learning, I was amazed from a very cool tool called Kaizena
Using this tool allow teachers to provide audio feedback to their students, and also, students can provide feedback on each other's works. The feedbacks can be private or public, and you can send it through the app, web or email.
I think that hearing your teacher's feedback make it more meaningful and personal. Moreover, the teacher can be more specific and clear about the mistakes, rather than just mark X, so the students get a good opportunity to learn from their mistakes.

that's it for this week :)

take care,

L.L

Week 3

Hi everyone,

In week 3 of this course we had the opportunity to explore some new tools that with most of them I was not familiar with.

These tools can help teachers in many ways, and you can easily find a way to integrate them in your lessons.

One of my favorite tools is Quizlet which is excellent for teaching vocabulary.

Another tool that I liked is text compactor which summarizes any text within a few seconds.

Can't wait to explore more technology tools that will help me to improve my lessons.

Week 2

Hi everyone,
I have to say that it was bit difficult to choose only three blogs, but eventually I chose the blogs that I thought could be the most helpful for me.

The cool cat teacher  blog is written by Vicki Davis, a full-time classroom teacher.
The blog divided into seven categories, and the two I liked the most are: Technology and Social media.
I learn about apps for painting and creating that I can use with my younger students, and the most significant tool I found in her blog is "Google classroom" which can make the teacher's life much easier.

Educational technology and mobile learning  blog is all about educational web tools and mobile apps for teachers and educators.
I found out some cool apps for elementary students like " Tellagami", "book creator" and "pic collage".

Class tech tips blog contains many tips that can help teachers.
One app I found interesting is "class-tag". With this app teachers can set up parent-teacher conferences in minutes. I think this is a wonderful tool that can help me schedule my time when I'll be homeroom teacher in future.

Hope you'll find these blogs interesting and enricing.

Take care,

L.L
